I wanted to make a piece that showcased our clinics beyond a traditional walk-through tour — and this was a big one. Because I wanted to show Embark clinicians in action, I needed teenagers, and quite a few of them!
Due to budget constraints, we couldn’t hire actors. So, I garnered support from my coworkers at Embark to source their teenagers (and a few of their kid’s friends) to volunteer to be in this video.
I filmed the clinicians and staff a couple of weeks in advance to help me plan and organize my shot list. Then, I coordinated with our volunteer actors and the clinic to plan the shoot. On-set, I directed the teenagers through various scenes and scenarios (individual therapy, family therapy, art therapy, group therapy, etc.) to match the key talking points the clinician’s brought up during their interview. This footage was then recycled into a variety of projects, like the clinic tour video, and a video about experiential therapy.

To demonstrate this, I collaborated with the marketing team to craft a list of interview questions and coordinated with the staff at the Embark location in San Martin, California to arrange a filming day. This video was a half-day shoot in conjunction with filming for the location’s video tour, and an interview with the executive director.
Rebecca, the chef, initially showed some nervousness about being on-camera for the interview, so I decided to change up my schedule and gather b-roll of her cooking as a warm-up and build rapport. Because she was used to the camera, and more familiar with me, by the time we filmed her interview, she was relaxed and confident. Her warm, caring personality shine through her every word, and I am so glad that we changed the plan so that we could showcase it!

To celebrate Phoenix Zine Fest, I collaborated with librarians, student workers, and the library’s communication team to produce this video.
The librarians and I worked together to craft interview questions to help them best explain what zines are. From there, I coordinated with the graphic design specialist and a couple of library student employees to coordinate a shoot of students interacting with the zine collection. The graphic designer and I shot in tandem (she took photos, I took video) to gather a variety of assets for use in this video and other marketing materials.
I was inspired by the DIY nature of zines, and decided to display that in the motion graphics. I selected key quotes from the interviews, and made stop-motion graphics with letters cut out of magazines and a greenscreen. These graphics add unique flair to the video and emphasize the creativity and innovation of zines.

The bindings of Kelmscott Press books are a testament to the exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail of the Arts and Crafts movement. Designed by William Morris, these bindings often feature luxurious materials such as vellum and hand-woven linen, adorned with intricate gold tooling and elaborate decoration. Morris drew inspiration from medieval illuminated manuscripts and incorporated elements such as stylized floral patterns and intricate borders into his designs. Each binding was meticulously crafted to complement the beauty of the printed text within, creating a harmonious and visually stunning book object. The careful consideration of every element, from materials to design, reflects Morris's dedication to creating books as works of art and has left an indelible mark on the history of bookbinding and design.
To promote Kelmscott Press Day, I collaborated with the library’s communication team, librarians, and conservators to make a series of videos about the Kelmscott Press. The communications team and I planned and executed a b-roll shoot, showcasing elements of the the collection, and then we filmed a series of interviews with subject matter experts about the Kelmscott Press.

At the beginning of the pandemic, the ASU staff had a message they wanted to convey to students: We were there for them and all of their academic needs. This award-winning video provided a beacon of warmth to Sun Devils, and highlighted the services available to them — even remotely!

To produce this video, I collaborated with my team and the communications team to produce a script for librarians and staff. I then sent out the script and some best practices for filming yourself to the entire library, and provided assistance from afar for folks who had questions.
Once the team sent their footage to me, I stitched the video together, went through a couple of rounds of feedback and editing, and published the final product.
This video received accolades at the 2021 Association of Research Libraries Film Festival, and is truly a bright spot in an uncertain time for me.

The only visual record of the historic Apollo 11 landing is from a 16mm time-lapse movie camera mounted in Buzz Aldrin’s window. Due to the LM windows’ size and the angle at which the movie camera was mounted, what Neil Armstrong saw as he flew and landed the LM was not recorded. The LROC team reconstructed the last three minutes of the landing using landmark navigation and altitude call outs from the voice recording.

Due to the LM windows’ size and the angle at which the movie camera was mounted, what Neil Armstrong saw as he flew and landed the LM was not recorded. The LROC team reconstructed the last three minutes of the landing using landmark navigation and altitude call outs from the voice recording.
To accomplish this, I cross-referenced information from the Apollo Flight Journal and the First Men on the Moon website to match the camera angles in my scene in Blender, navigating the camera to the surface of a 3D model of the Apollo 11 landing site made with LROC Narrow Angle Camera (NAC) images and digital terrain model (DTM). Once the reconstructed version matched the original film from Aldrin's window to the best of my ability, I then rotated the camera in Blender to simulate what Armstrong might have seen through his window in the LM.

Mount Marilyn, a 1400-meter tall peak situated between Mare Tranquillitatis and Mare Fecunditatis, holds a significant role in lunar exploration history. Acting as a crucial landmark for Apollo 11's descent, astronauts used its visibility at specific times to ensure their correct trajectory. Before Apollo 8, Jim Lovell, one of the astronauts, chose this peak as a distinctive landmark along potential landing routes and nicknamed it after his wife, Marilyn.
Jim and Marilyn, high school sweethearts, were married for 71 years. Mt. Marilyn was officially named by the International Astronomical Union on 26 July 2017, even though it had appeared in technical reports and maps.
Now, my video allows viewers to virtually fly over Mount Marilyn, adding a dynamic dimension to this lunar landmark's historical significance.

Embark’s evidence-supported treatment approach creates an environment that fosters healing for young people and their families.

In this short, informative video, I collaborated with the marketing team and Embark’s top clinical expert to explain the company’s proprietary therapeutic approach. I recorded voice-over with Rob Gent, the originator of the treatment approach, and provided creative direction to produce a storyboard based off of the voice-over.
Once the storyboard was developed, I developed a prop list, and constructed a budget and purchased the necessary supplies and equipment.
This video was filmed over two days in Embark’s in-house studio, where I led the shoot as director and cinematographer.
I spearheaded the editing process, wrote the description, designed the thumbnail and uploaded the final product.
